Phoenix Hot Glass Studio Gold Magma Paperweight (Boxed)

This is a highly attractive glass paperweight by Roger Tye of the Phoenix Hot Glass Studio. Roger Tye founded Phoenix Hot Glass Studio in 1989. It ceased production in 2005. This highly attractive and unusual piece has a central core of amber glass, overlaid with silver. The latter has a crackled surface and is presumably meant to resemble cooling volcanic lava. The core is encased in flint glass. The base is polished out in the centre and is hand engraved with the letters ‘PHGS’. In addition, the paperweight comes in its original black box, with the iridescent Phoenix logo. The base of the box has a handwritten sticker which reads ‘GOLD MAGMA PAPERWEIGHT’. It has a height of approximately 7.0cm. It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
