Pair of William Yeoward Star Cut Lead Crystal Champagne Flutes
For a full product description, see below.
This is a pair of stunning, high-quality cut lead crystal champagne flutes by William Yeoward Crystal.
The elongated trumpet-shaped bowl is cut with two large eight-pointed stars, each of which has a blaze of fine needle cuts around it. The remainder of the bowl is cut with smaller eight-pointed stars in a random pattern. The base of the bowl is thickened and joined to the baluster shaped stem by means of a discoid knop. The foot is cut on the underside with a ring of fine wedge cuts at the edge. The centre is marked with the words ‘WILLIAM YEOWARD’ and what I believe is the date ‘2001’.
These glasses are no longer in production and would have originally cost around £150-£250 each, perhaps more. William Yeoward Crystal is still in business and is reputed to be one of the best crystal makers in the world.
Each glass has a height of approximately 24.8cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 6.4cm and across the foot of about 7.7cm. Each glass has a liquid capacity of 210ml and an unwrapped weight of around 280g. There may be minor discrepancies in the dimensions due to the handmade nature of the glasses.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
