Pair of Stuart Crystal ‘Ludlow’ Design Sherry Glasses No. 29622
For a full product description, see below.
This is a pair of high-quality cut lead crystal sherry glasses from the ‘Ludlow’ suite by Stuart Crystal.
The elongated bowl tapers in towards the thickened base. It is cut in the lower half with a band of five large criss-crosses, the upper and lower limbs of which come in to close approximation. Each large cross is surmounted by a five-pointed fan. The diamond-shaped panel formed between adjacent large crosses is filled with a smaller cross, the lower limbs of which are elongated and cross over the lower limbs of the larger crosses.
The base of the bowl merges with the short stem; the latter has a large central ball knop.
The foot is discoid, and star cut in the centre; it is marked at the edge with the words ‘STUART ENGLAND’.
Each glass has a height of approximately 10.0cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 5.3cm and across the foot of about 5.3cm on one glass and 4.9cm on the other. There may be minor discrepancies in the dimensions due to the handmade nature of the glasses.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
