This is a pair of highly attractive glass bud vases probably dating to around 1870.
Each vase has a wide trumpeted rim that tapers in and then flares out to form a baluster shaped body. At the base of the body there is a bladed collar, which flares out to form the domed foot. The latter has a rough pontil underneath.
There is a band of gilding at the rim, although this is very worn on both pieces. There is also a ring of gold applied at the edge of the foot. The body is decorated on one side with a stylised rose bud and foliage design.
Each vase has a height of approximately 19.6cm, with a diameter at the rim of about 6.0cm and across the foot of about 6.5cm.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although as previously mentioned the gilding is worn in places, especially at the rim. There is minor wear to the body and the foot rim and this can be seen in the pictures.
