This is an unusual pair of utilitarian drinking glasses, probably Continental in origin and dating to around 1880.
The elongated bowl is slightly waisted in the middle and has a vertical ribbed pattern. It has a bulbous thickened base. The stem has an upper cylindrical portion, with a low bladed knop above a short waisted portion. This joins the stem to the plain, flat foot. The latter is polished flat and unmarked.
The glasses are made from a very yellow tinted metal (glass), suggesting that they may be Continental and not English.
Each glass has a height of approximately 15.0cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 5.7cm and across the foot of about 7.0cm. There may be minor discrepancies in the dimensions due to the handmade nature of the glasses.
They are in fair condition for their age, with no chips or cracks, although they are both watermarked with visible clouding. This damage is reflected in the price.
