Pair of Harbridge Crystal Footed Dessert Bowls
For a full product description, see below.
This is a pair of high-quality cut lead crystal footed dessert bowls by Harbridge Crystal of Platt’s Works, Stourbridge and dating to the mid-20th century.
The bowl is of double ogee form. The rim is decorated with a series of ‘V’ shaped wedge cuts, which give it a ‘sawtooth’ appearance. Below this there is a continuous pattern consisting of fifteen large criss – crosses, each of which is intersected by a vertical cross. Half way between this design and the base of the bowl there is a continuous circle of ten leaf shaped wedge cuts. The short stem has a ‘waist’ midway down. The saucer shaped foot is slightly domed where it meets the stem and has a star cut pattern on the underneath.
The underside of the foot is marked at the edge with the words ‘ENGLISH HARBRIDGE CRYSTAL’.
Each bowl has a height of approximately 8.7cm, and a diameter at the rim of about 10.5cm. There are minor discrepancies in the dimensions due to the handmade nature of the glass.
They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there is the odd wear and tear scratch commensurate with age.
