Pair of Dartington Crystal 'Wine Master' Champagne Flutes FT1405/P

This is a pair of high quality lead crystal champagne flutes from the Wine Master Collection designed by Frank Thrower for Dartington Crystal. The main reason given for the design of this collection was to advance and enhance the understanding and enjoyment of wine. Each individual glass was produced to partner and enhance specific wines and grape varieties, and other liquors. The deep bowls, long stems, fine walls and narrow rims of the collection were said to enable wines and other liquors to develop their complex bouquets and flavours to the full. In the 1998 Dartington catalogue the Wine Master champagne glass is described as ‘an elegant flute which displays the silk-like threads of bubbles which characterise fine sparkling wines’. Both glasses are marked on the foot with the word ‘DARTINGTON’. Each glass has a height of approximately 22.3cm, with a diameter at the rim of about 4.5cm and at the foot of about 6.0cm. There may be minor discrepancies in the dimensions due to the handmade nature of the glasses. Each glass has a liquid capacity of about 20cl. They are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
