This is a nice example of a retro sugar bowl from the ‘Whitehill’ range by Midwinter.
The bowl is broadly cylindrical in form, although there is a slight taper towards the base. The design is in a broad band just below the rim and consists of straight white lines at varying angles to the vertical over a horizontal band of green and grey. The rim is decorated with a band of silver.
It is marked with the words ‘WHITEHILL MIDWINTER FINE TABLEWARE STAFFORDSHIRE ENGLAND’. This particular mark was in use from 1962 onwards.
It has a maximum height of approximately 6.2cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 9.5cm and across the base of about 7.6cm.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there may be some crazing to the glaze in places.
