This is a high quality cut lead crystal bonbon dish, probably British in origin and dating to around 1860.
The pan shaped bowl has a notched rim and is cut with a ring of olive cuts that are bordered above and below by a pair of circumferential wedge cuts. Between adjacent olive cuts there are three vertical wedge cuts that intersect the circumferential wedge cuts. The stem is of hollow blown ‘hourglass’ form. The foot is plain with a central polished pontil.
It has a height of approximately 9.3cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 10.8cm and across the foot of about 7.3cm.
It is in fair condition, with a few minor chips within the cutting at the rim. These are only visible on the closest of scrutiny. There are a number of fine wear and tear scratches on the interior and exterior of the bowl. This wear is reflected in the price.
