This is a nice example of a utilitarian wine glass dating to around 1870.
The rounded bowl has been pulled out at the base to form a waisted stem. The foot is plain and polished flat. The base of the bowl has been cut with six petals, which extend downwards onto the stem as vertical facets with a rounded base. The stem is therefore hexagonal in section.
Any liquid placed in the bowl therefore tracks downwards into the stem.
It has a height of approximately 10.8cm, with a diameter at the rim of about 5.7cm and across the foot of about 5.9cm, although it is not entirely circular.
It is in good condition, with no chips or cracks, although there is a faint water mark in the bottom of the stem. This is only visible when held in the light but this wear has been reflected in the price.
