This is a nice example of a decorative jelly mould, probably dating to the end of the 19th century.
This is a nice example of a decorative jelly mould, probably dating to the end of the 19th century.
The mould has a plain galleried rim and is domed. The ‘dome’ is moulded with a selection of fruit, including apples, pears, grapes and a banana. There are stylised leaves around the edge. The ‘banana’ is incised with ‘5 LI’.
It has a maximum height of approximately 8.8cm and a diameter across the rim of about 15.6cm.
It is in good condition, with only one minute chip to the rim. The rim is very rough around the edges with pieces of frit showing through. However, this wear is reflected in the price.
