This is a simple yet attractive example of a cream or milk jug, probably British in origin and dating to around 1880.
The jug is of classic form, with a short cylindrical neck that widens out to form a ‘shoulder’. This then tapers in towards the thickened base. The latter is plain and unmarked. The whole is moulded with a vertical ribbed pattern. There is a small spout at the rim, opposite the handle. This has been separately applied and is attached below the rim and again below the shoulder.
It has a maximum height of approximately 10.1cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 6.5cm and across the base of about 5.8cm.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are a few wear and tear scratches to the underside of the base, commensurate with use.
