This is a charming example of a high-quality lead crystal cologne bottle, maker unknown but dating to the latter part of the 19th century.

The bottle has a flattened rim and a short neck that is cut with eight facets. These continue onto the tapering shoulder. The cylindrical body is cut with the complex ‘hobnail’ pattern. The base is thickened, and star cut in the centre.

The stopper is hollow, with a star cut apex. The edge is decorated with two rows of hobnail cutting, which is bordered above and below by a horizontal wedge cut. Below this the neck of the stopper is cut with six petal-shaped facets.

The glass has a faint yellowish tint, which may suggest that it originated from Bohemian (Czechoslovakia).

It has a height (including the stopper) of approximately 16.0cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 4.4cm and across the base of about 6.0cm.

It is in fair condition, although there are a number of small chips and grazes along the edges and within the cutting. This wear is reflected in the price.
