Product Description

Details

This is a handsome example of a stoneware bowl, maker unknown.

The bowl is approximately cylidrnical in shape, with short straight sides. It is made from thick stoneware and is glazed in a mottled brown and black on the interior. The exterior is glazed with a broad stripe of mottled green and black below the rim, which drips down on to a glossy brown band of glaze. Just above the base the piece is unglazed. The base is also unglazed and unmarked.

It has a height of approximately 6.5cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 21.8cm and across the base of about 19.5cm.

It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are some glazed ‘misses’ which reveal patches of the underlying ceramic body. This is part of the design and not a flaw.
