This is an unusual example of a piece of Jersey Pottery.
The lamp base is hollow and widens out from an unglazed foot rim. The side tapers in slightly to a flattened shoulder. The latter is decorated at its edge with concentric bands of brown glaze over an off-white glaze. The middle portion sweeps up to form a short cylinder with a short top. The latter has a central hole for the electrical fitting. The side of the lamp base is divided into nine panels by vertical brown lines. Each panel contains an abstract motif consisting of three curved brush strokes of brown glaze.
In addition, there is a round hole lined with plastic to allow attachment of the electrical cable.
It is marked on the interior with the words 'JERSEY POTTERY C.I.'
It has a maximum height of approximately 10.3cm and a maximum diameter of about 13.5cm.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
