This is a bright example of an art pottery flower vase by Jasba.
The vase is in classic form, with a rounded body that tapers in to form a waisted neck and a wide everted rim. The interior has been glazed in a dark chocolate brown and has a gilded rim. The exterior has also been glazed in brown but this has a thin layer of white over it that has dripped down from the central striped design. This has been decorated over with stripes of iridescent glaze in red, orange, yellow and green.
The base has an unglazed foot rim, revealing the underlying ceramic body to be buff in colour. It is moulded in the centre with the number ‘581/16’ and the words ‘WEST GERMANY’. The centre is glazed in brown.
It has a height of approximately 16.9cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 8.6cm and across the base of about 6.1cm.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
