Hook Norton Pottery (Russell Collins) Large Stoneware Charger or Platter with Abstract Design
For a full product description, see below.
This is a stunning example of a large platter or charger produced by Russell Collins of the Hook Norton Pottery.
The charger has a thick, flattened rim, and a capacious bowl. It is glazed in grey and brown shades, with an abstract brushwork motif in the centre. The exterior is also glazed in grey, which is pitted with numerous burst bubbles.
The edge of the base is impressed with the letter ‘RC’; this is tricky to make out as the glaze has flooded the impression. This mark is attributable to Russell Collins, who produced pieces for the Hook Norton Pottery for over 30 years.
The charger has a height of approximately 8.4cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 39.0cm and across the base of about 23.5cm.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
