This is a nice example of a handmade Honiton pottery vase, probably dating to the 1930s.
The vase sits on a small discoid base and has a globular body, with a short neck and slightly everted rim. The latter is decorated with a series of pale blue dots. The vase is hand painted with a stylised floral design in numerous colours. This sits on a fine grey circumferential line. There is a band of teal blue glaze just above the base.
The underside of the base is impressed with the words ‘HONITON ~ DEVON ENGLAND’. In addition, it is hand painted with the decorator’s marks and the word ‘SCATON’.
It has a height of approximately 12.4cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 8.7cm and across the base of about 7.3cm.
It is in good condition, with no chips or cracks, although the glaze is crazed in some places.
