This is a high quality cut lead crystal bud vase, probably British in origin and dating to the latter part of the 20th century.
The vase has a lower rounded portion, tapering in and then flaring out to form a trumpet shaped rim. The latter is notched around the edge. Below the rim is a ring of six large criss-crosses, the upper and lower limbs of which come in to close approximation. In the diamond shaped panels formed between adjacent crosses there is a further small cross. Above the centre of each large cross there is a three-pointed fan with two pairs of small wedge cuts in the gaps. The centre of the bud vase is cut with a lattice of criss-crosses that diminish in size as they approach the base. Below this is a band of eight facets with curved upper and lower margins. The lower part of the bud vase it cut with six flattened criss-crosses; in the diamond shaped panels formed between adjacent crosses there is a small cross. The whole sits on a discoid foot that is decorated around the edge with a band of wedge cuts. It is unmarked.
It has a height of approximately 18.4cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 7.4cm and across the foot of about 6.9cm.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
