Georgian Bucket Bowled Port Glass with Folded Foot c.1770
This is a nice example of a lead crystal port glass, probably British in origin and dating to between 1770 and 1790.
This is a nice example of a lead crystal port glass, probably British in origin and dating to between 1770 and 1790.
The bucket shaped bowl has a thickened base and is undecorated. There is a broad attachment at the junction of the bowl and the stem; the latter has a central bladed knop. The foot is broad and folded under at the edge. The underside is slightly domed and has a central polished pontil.
It has a height of approximately 10.0cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 5.4cm and across the foot of about 5.7cm.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are a few enclosed bubbles within the bowl, stem and foot.
