This is an attractive example of a decorative glass posy vase by the Franz Welz company of Czechoslovakia and dating to the latter part of the 19th century. The vase is of tapering cylindrical form, with four circumferential rings above the base. The latter has a linear tool mark. It is made in three layers – an inner white glass layer over which is a multicoloured marbled layer with a pattern of small enclosed bubbles. The whole is encased in a layer of flint glass. It has a height of approximately 10.2cm, with a diameter at the rim of about 6.0cm and across the base of about 4.3cm. It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
