This is a nice example of a posy vase by George Tonkin Holland for Dunster Pottery.
The posy is globular in form, with a large central hole at the top, surrounded by a hexagon formed from twelve smaller holes. The glaze is a mottled grey – purple and it is decorated with two incised (sgraffito) flowers with white glaze petals.
The base is unglazed, revealing the underlying ceramic body to be terracotta in colour. It is incised with the initials ‘GTH’ and the word ‘DUNSTER’. This signature is attributable to George Tonkin Holland.
The posy has a height of approximately 12.0cm.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
