Colclough China ‘Royale’ Design Cake Plate No. 8525
This is a lovely example of a bone china cake plate from the ‘Royale’ suite by Colclough China.
This is a lovely example of a bone china cake plate from the ‘Royale’ suite by Colclough China.
The plate has an undulated gilded rim, below which is a stylised floral and scroll design in gold, cobalt blue and terracotta red. This is reminiscent of the colours used in Chinese ‘Imari’ porcelain. There is a central gold-coloured fitting that is stepped at the junction with the plate. Above this it is cylindrical in shape and merges with the inverse teardrop-shaped handle.
It is marked on the underside although this is obscured by the handle fitting.
The plate has a height to the top of the handle of approximately 14.2cm and a diameter across the rim of about 20.7cm.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there is some minor wear to the gilding at the rim.
