British Lattice Cut Lead Crystal Candleholder (Seconds)
For a full product description, see below.
This is a high-quality cut lead crystal candleholder, probably British in origin but maker unknown.
The candleholder has a galleried upper portion and a notched rim. This widens out to form a bulbous body; the latter is cut with three rows of interlocking criss-crosses. This merges with the short stem, which has a bulbous knop. The foot is star cut and unmarked.
It has a height of approximately 11.3cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 6.6cm and across the foot of about 6.5cm.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are some striations in the glass and it is not entirely straight. I believe this piece may be of ‘seconds’ quality.
