British Highly Cut Lead Crystal Tankard possibly Stuart Crystal
For a full product description, see below.
This is a high-quality cut lead crystal tankard, probably British in origin and possibly attributable to Stuart Crystal.
The body is approximately cylindrical in shape, with a thick discoid base. The latter is star cut and unmarked. The body is cut just above the base with a ring of horizontal oval cuts that come into close approximation with one another. Above this is a band of large cross-cut diamonds; in the uppermost row the peaks and troughs are topped with elongated vertical wedge cuts. The handle has been separately applied and runs for most of the height of the body.
It has a height of approximately 9.8cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 7.9cm and across the base of about 8.2cm.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
