Booth’s ‘Real Old Willow’ Design Blue and White Lidded Tureen (Brown and Gold)

This is a nice example of a classic design originally produced by Booth’s in the latter half of the 20th century. The capacious tureen has a flattened scalloped rim with two ‘wings’ to act as handles. The lid is domed with an ornate hexagonally moulded knop that is hand painted with gold. The tureen and lid are transfer printed with the classic ‘Real Old Willow’ design in blue and white. This is the ‘Gold and Brown’ variation of the pattern, where the edges are gilded and a stripe of pattern on the interior is printed in brown. The underside is printed in the centre with the Booth’s logo and the words ‘BOOTHS MADE IN ENGLAND REAL OLD WILLOW A8025’. It has a maximum height (including the lid) of approximately 10.8cm and a maximum diameter of approximately 24.7cm. It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there is the odd wear and tear scratch from use. The gilding is also a little worn at the edges.
