Aviemore Pottery of Scotland Large Handmade Mug

This is a highly attractive art pottery mug by Aviemore Pottery of Scotland. The mug has an unusual shape, with a tall cylindrical rim. The body widens out and then tapers back in towards the base. This is decorated in the upper part with a band of purple-blue glaze with a concentric circle wax-resist design that repeats four times. There is a circumferential unglazed band, below which the lower half is glazed in purple-blue. The base has an unglazed rim, revealing the underlying ceramic body to be white in colour. It is stamped in the centre with a circle containing the words ‘AVIEMORE POTTERY SCOTLAND’ and a central logo, although this is not easily discernible. It has a height of approximately 10.7cm, with a diameter at the rim of about 8.1cm and across the base of about 6.0cm. It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
