This is a stylish, high quality lead crystal dressing table vanity jar, probably British in origin and dating to the Art Deco period.
The jar is approximately cylindrical in shape with a thickened base. The latter is polished flat and unmarked. It is cut with six rows of square facet cuts that create a grid. The neck steps in and is galleried and undecorated.
The lid is of short cylindrical form and is cut with the same grid pattern.
It has a maximum height (including the lid) of approximately 9.5cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 4.3cm and across the base of about 5.3cm.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although there are some striations within the cutting that are manufacturing artefacts. There are also a few wear and tear scratches that are commensurate with age.
