1960s Noritake ‘Namiki’ Design Teapot with Cane Handle No. 108
This is a striking piece of retro tableware from the ‘Namiki’ range by Noritake.
This is a striking piece of retro tableware from the ‘Namiki’ range by Noritake.
The teapot is circular in cross-section, tapering in towards the base. The rim has two raised lips with central holes for the insertion of the handle. This is made from metal covered with a layer of cane. The spout is drawn out from the body and extends to the level of the rim. The lid is slightly domed with a central discoid knop.
The whole is made from white china with a transfer printed leaf pattern in green, blue and brown. There is a single brown leaf on the lid.
The base is marked in the centre with the words ‘NORITAKE COOK ‘N SERVE CHINA JAPAN 108 NAMIKI DETERGENT PROOF’. This mark was introduced in 1961 with the Cook ‘n Serve range.
The teapot has a maximum height of approximately 22.3cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 16.1cm and across the base of about 8.6cm.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks.
