1950s Stuart Crystal Cross Cut Lidded Honey Pot No. 25469
For a full product description, see below.
This is a nice example of a lidded honey pot produced by Stuart Crystal and dating to the 1950s.
The body is approximately cylindrical with a thickened discoid base. The latter is star cut and marked at the edge with the words ‘STUART ENGLAND’. The body is cut below the rim with two rows of horizontal wedge cuts. Below this are two rows of interlocking criss-crosses.
The lid is discoid with a raised inner surface; this has been star cut. The upper surface of the lid is plain with a central ball knop with a polished apex. It is joined to the lid via a discoid collar. There is a small notch out of the edge of the lid for placement of a spoon.
This piece has the pattern number ‘25469’ and can be seen in the 1954 Stuart catalogue.
It has a height (including the lid) of approximately 9.7cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 6.1cm and across the base of about 6.2cm.
It is in good condition, with one small graze to the edge of the base (see photograph). This is only visible on close inspection and is reflected in the price.
