1930s Triple Moulded ‘Basket Weave’ Design Glass Cake Stand
For a full product description, see below.

This is a crudely made but charming example of a pressed glass cake stand, maker unknown but dating to the first part of the 20th century.
The rim is galleried, although it is notched and pitted in various places due to mass production. The underside of the platter is moulded with a motif consisting of a grid with alternating horizontal and vertical lines. This gives a basket-weave effect. The stem is lobed and bears the remains of the three mould lines. It merges with the thick, discoid foot, which is moulded with a central star on the underside. It is unmarked.
It has a height of approximately 8.8cm, with a diameter across the rim of about 19.7cm and across the foot of about 8.3cm.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, although as previously mentioned it is a little uneven around the rim due to the fact it has been mass-manufactured. This flaw is part of its charm.
